Odisha's borders insecure: Sammilani

Published on:

‘Odisha border is insecure,’ said Utkal Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dilip Dashsharma here on Thursday.

Dashsharma said while there have been conflicts with Andhra Pradesh over the Kotia gram panchayat with our State, the Central Government has given national recognition to the Polavaram project, ignoring the problems of Odisha.

Similarly, the West Bengal has its eyes set on the lands in the Bhograi and Jaleswar tehsils, including the Shahbajipur bus stand and Belapur areas in Baleswar district. As the bitterness has increased with the neighbouring State Chhattisgarh over the Mahanadi issue recently, the Chhattisgarh Government is trying to spread the illegal rail lines for the industries of Chhattisgarh by cutting the adjoining mountains in Ganjam district.

The Utkal Sammilani deplored activities of the neighbouring States and demanded the State Government to open a ‘Border Security Department’ for security and safety in border and appoint an Odia officer for the department.
