An executive body meeting of the State Council of Culture, held here on Friday, laid stress on activating the State, Zonal and District Councils of Culture soon.
It was decided that a book of history of Odishan culture would be published by the Odisha Sahitya Akademi.Besides, steps would be initiated to award theatre actors. Konark Samman and Governor’s Plaque of Honour would be conferred from this year. A Bhubaneswar literary meet would also be organised every year.
The meeting chaired by Tourism and Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty also decided that dying arts, performing arts and visual arts would be revived by the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The meeting decided that Fellowships would be given at the State level to deserving scholars for conservation of art and culture of Odisha.
Among others, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Culture Sanjeev Mishra, ICCR Regional Director Minaskhi Mishra, Dr Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, Sahitya Akademi President Satakadi Hota, lalit Kala Akademi President Siva Panigrahi, Sangeet Natak Akademi President Sarat Pujari and Director of Culture Sushil Das were present.
