Odisha traders call off strike

The Federation of All Odisha Traders’ Associations (FAOTA) on Monday evening called off its strike following a meeting with Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat. The traders had been on strike since April 9 stopping import of pulses, wheat and wheat products while demanding waiver of the five-per cent VAT imposed on these items.

A FAOTA delegation led by secretary Sudhakar Panda attended the meeting called by Amat. Amat said a committee has been formed to take a call on the FAOTA demand in three months’ time.
