Odisha added another feather in its cap as it was adjudged the ‘Fastest Moving State’ in the Swachh Survekshan Awards-2020, which were announced by Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri in New Delhi on Thursday.
This apart, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) bagged the ‘Best Medium City in Innovation and Best Practices’ award in the 3-10-lakh population category.
Odisha has been placed at the 10th position in the Swachh Survekshan rankings. The state was ranked 22 and 16 in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
The Swachh Survekshan 2020 programme under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, surveyed a total of 4242 cities, 62 Cantonment Boards and 97 Ganga Towns and saw unprecedented participation of 1.87 crore citizens.
The award for the State has been received by Minister, Housing & Urban Development Pratap Jena.
The award for the Berhampur Municipal Corporation was received by Ganjam district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange and the Commissioner of the Corporation and other officials.
