Odisha has topped the national average in the registration of Direct Benefits Transfer for lPG (DBTl), also known as Pratyaksh Hastantarit labh (PAHAl), scheme of the Centre. As against the all-India average of 69 per cent, there has been a 70.07-per cent registration of lPG consumers in the State under the scheme so far.

“The scheme, introduced by the Centre, has become immensely successful in the country as more than 10 crore lPG beneficiaries have been registered under it till date. Within a period of more than a month, the direct benefit amount of nearly Rs 4,000 crore has been debited to the accounts of the beneficiaries,” said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Compared to the success rate of the scheme at the all-India level which is 69 per cent, in Odisha it has crossed the national average with 70.07 per cent. “The scheme, through digital governance, has been successful in curbing rampant black marketing of lPG, benefiting consumers by providing them with the novel distribution system, he said.

“In terms of linking the beneficiaries to their bank account in a digital platform, the scheme would become the largest distribution scheme in the world,” Pradhan claimed. The Centre has set March 31 as the deadline for DBTl registration in the country.
