Odisha to send names for NDDB chief post

The Union Government has asked the Odisha Government to send names of appropriate candidates for the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman post.

Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Ministry Secretary Devendra Chaudhry has written to Chief Secretary AP Padhi in this regard.

The NDDB is a statutory body mandated to promote, plan and organise programmes for development of dairy and other agricultural and allied industries.

The Chairman post is presently held by former IAS officer Dilip Rath of Odisha after T Nandakumar left the post in last August.

A selection committee has been formed under chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary to select an appropriate person for the post. Accordingly, 18 States, including Odisha, have been asked to send suitable names.

The country is eyeing to achieve a milk production of 210 million tonne by 2020-21, which will be implemented under the guidance of NDDB.

Suitable names would be sent to the Union Government within three weeks of time, said sources in the State Government.
