Climate change has been emerged as the biggest threat to the survival of the human society, and Odisha is among the most vulnerable areas that are going to be affected due to this. This has made it imperative to take essential measures to mitigate the ill effects of climate change.
Odisha has become one of the first States to take several steps under the National Climate change Action Plan, National Adaptation Fund and Green Climate Fund to mitigate the climate change effect. At the same time, it has also become imperative to raise awareness among the people and organisations for taking positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth, said several experts during a special programme on the World Environment Day at the Institutional Farm, College of Forestry of OUAT.
Inaugurating the programme, Housing and Urban Development Special Secretary Prem Kumar Jha planted the first sapling.
“It is our bounden duty to protect the environment; and by planting saplings, carbon sink can be created that will reduce emissions,” said CTRAN Consulting CEO Dr Ashok Kumar Singha.
