The territorial claim of Andhra Pradesh in Odisha was foiled after two candidates from Odisha border villages supported by two leading parties of the neighbouring State in fray for panchayat polls under Mandasa mandal of Srikakulam district were successfully convinced by Gajapati district administration to stay away from election process. The YSR party had supported a candidate in Gangabada to stand in fray for Laxmi Sabar, but after marathon check and persuasion by Sub-Collector Sangram Sekhar Panda, she withdrew her candidature. The Sub-Collector too rushed to Manikpatna and persuaded another candidate, Draupadi Sabar, to refrain from polls. She was a TDP-supported candidate in the elections.
