Odisha MPs submit memo to Gadkari

lok Sabha members of Odisha on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Union Minster of Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari for expediting construction of a flyover at Khandagiri Square and a proposed port at the mouth of the Bahuda river of Ganjam.

Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Kumar Patasani advocated for construction of the flyover at Khandagiri Square in order to control heavy rush as the road near the tourist spot (Khandagiri and Udaygiri) is mostly a busy place. Besides, building the flyover would solve the regular accidents at the Khandagiri Square in Bhubaneswar.

The proposed Sagarmala Project needs to be implemented sooner, urged Patasani. The port shall be an integral part of a logistic chain for industrial and economic development of the State. All major and minor ports, inland waterways, railways, mining and industrial establishments must work in tandem to keep up the higher economic growth, Patasani said.

Aska MP ladu Kishore Swain also underscored the importance of the port at the mouth of the Bahuda river in Ganjam district, which will be the deepest port of eastern India. The effects of the port include revenue from cargo handling, economic development, employment generation, development of road and rail connectivity and acceleration of local economy as well as that of the State.

Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi also requested the Union Minster for fast completion of a new National Highway which is under consideration of the Union Government.
