Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced to form a Maize Mission for the development of maize farming in Nabarangpur district.
The Chief Minister directed concerned officials at a review meeting to form the mission while opining that the maize farming growth would bring in development in Nabarnagpur district. The Umarkote area is famous for maize farming, he said.
Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, R Balkrishnan presented a development works of Nabarangpur district before the Chief Minister.
In his report, Balkrishna emphasised that more assistances to maize farmers should be given. Besides, he recommended for development measures in power, education, healthcare and fishing sectors.
