Here is a strong reason for Odisha residents to feel proud of as the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 will be telecast in no less than 194 countries.
This would be possible for media rights agreements signed between the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and over 30 broadcast partners worldwide.
Scheduled TV coverage by 30 broadcasters is an increase of almost 150 per cent compared to the last edition of Hockey Men’s World Cup in 2014. Only 15 broadcasters had covered the last HWC, according to reports.
In territories where no media rights agreement is in place, the matches would be streamed on the FIH YouTube channel. The Star Sports is the host broadcaster.
FIH CEO Thierry Weil said: “It is our will and mission to bring hockey to the attention of more people. The great increase of countries where it will be possible to watch the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 on TV will enable many more fans to follow the action! This will give hockey more exposure than ever before.”
According to the schedule, the 14th HWC will kick off at the Kalinga Stadium on November 28 and end on December 16.
