Parliament Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh on Tuesday informed the State Assembly that the State Government would consider raising pension of former MlAs and salary and allowances of incumbent ones if such a proposal is submitted to it by the Assembly Secretariat.
The Minister informed this in response to a question of BJD MlA Prafulla Samal. The MlA had wanted to know if the Government would take a decision to hike the pension of former MlAs and salary of present MlAs in view of the State Government deciding to raise salaries of its employees on the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and the Union Government deciding to increase the salary and allowances of the MPs.
The Minister informed that the Pension, Salary and Allowance Escalation Rules for former and present MlAs had been amended in 2011 for the last time.
