Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a new political party named “Odisha Ganatantrik Sammukhya” (Odisha Democratic Front) was formed by merger of two regional parties, the Samata Kranti Dal and the Utkal Bharat here on Monday.

This was declared by the Samata Kranti Dal leader Braja Kishore Tripathy and Utkal Bharat chief Kharabela Swain at a Press meet here.

Both leaders said the new front aims to drive away the BJD Government from power. The front would field candidates in every constituency and form the next Government by winning maximum seats, they asserted.

Swain alleged that the BJD Government has made Odisha a poor State. People in large numbers are going outside the State in search of work due to callousness of the State Government towards development in various sectors, including health and agriculture, he said.

Tripathy and Swain also urged all anti-BJD forces to come forward and fight together to defeat the Naveen Patnaik Government in the upcoming elections.

Among others, Samata Kranti Dal president Prasant Kumar Mishra, youth president Sarada Prasanna Swain, general secretary Digant Dey and secretary Prabash Samantray and Utkal Bharat VP Loknath Sadangi and secretary Kamiludin Ahmed were present.
