A team of the Odisha Fire Services on Friday left for Meghalaya to rescue 15 labourers trapped in a coalmine.
The 21-member team led by Chief Fire Officer Sukanta Sethy along with equipments including high-powered pumps headed for the mission by a special aircraft.
Notably, a total of 15 labourers have been trapped in a coalmine in the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya since December 13. The chances of their survival appear to be very minimal as they are stranded in the mine for 15 long days.
The NDRF team has been engaged to trace the workers. However, nobody has been rescued yet in the operation.
