The Odisha Crime Branch's Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday took over probe into the seizure of a SIM box in Brahmapur in which four persons were arrested on Saturdayfor their alleged links with Mumbai underworld don Chotta Rajan.
CB Special DGP BK Sharma in a Tweet said a team of officials of STF and EOW, including cyber experts led by an Additional SP, would investigate the case.
Sharma added, "The FIR filed alleges that the illegal telephone exchange was facilitating international calls and had linkages with organised criminal groups."
He further said a plea would be made in a local court seeking remand of the four accused to expedite the probe. The four were held by the Gopalpur police in Ganjam district after an extortion call to a Mumbai-based realtor was traced to the SIM box in possession of the arrestees by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
