Senior IPS officer from Odisha, Satya Narayan Pradhan, has been appointed as the fulltime Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Pradhan, the outgoing DG of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was appointed as the Director General of NCB on deputation basis till the date of his superannuation on August 31, 2024 or till further orders.
The 1988-batch Jharkhand-cadre IPS officer had been given the additional charge of the anti-drug Central agency this year. He had assumed the office as the DG of NCB on July 29, 2021. In a major IPS reshuffle on November 9, the Centre appointed Atul Karwal as the DG of NDRF replacing Pradhan. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet also approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for appointment Sheel Vardhan Singh to the post of DG, CISF, till August 31, 2023.
