Although the State Government has made it mandatory for Government officials, business houses and official vehicles to put up nameplates in Odia, in Parlakhemundi, the birthplace of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayan Dev, few stick to it due to poor implementation of the order.
Social activist Purnna Chandra Mohapatra said nameplates of the Emergency Section Office and the Roads and Buildings Department were changed after his repeated protest against it. Similarly, social worker Dilip Kumar Satpathy said, “We should emulate Raygada district, where all nameplates have been written Odia in presence of police.” He demanded proper implementation of the order in Parlakhemundi by the district administration.
