The 5th anniversary of Odia magazine Chirantani was held at Jajpur Road on Sunday. Korei MlA Pritiranjan Ghadai addressing the function said Odia magazines are fighting a grim battle against the television and internet.
In many countries readers prefer to read magazines through internet, but in Odisha, many magazines have not developed their internet editions. The mushrooming of English medium schools have been an impediments for growth of Odia magazines, he added.
Writer Antaryami Mishra, social worker Dr Manzoor Ali and Susanta Mishra were felicitated at the function. Writer Achyutananda Pati, Dr Sankuntala Baliarsingh and Suryamani Khuntia were guests of honour.
The meeting was presided over by Narayan Pati and Chirantani editor Sanjukta Mohanty gave a vote of thanks.
