Bodies of two girls, including one from Sundargarh district, were found hanging from a tree in a forest near the Odisha-Jharkhand border on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Shraddha of Biramitrapur in the district and Sunandini of Bansajor in Jharkhand.
Locals spotted the bodies in the morning and informed police about it. The bodies have been recovered and sent for postmortem.
“Investigation into the matter is underway to ascertain whether the incident was a suicide or murder. Parents of the deceased are being questioned in the connection,” a police official said.
