Odia girl Anindita Janhavi Suara from Koraput district has made the State proud in the field of literature by participating in an international poetry competition conducted online by the United Kingdom’s tourism department.

Anindita is the only girl from India among 50 contestants to represent the country in this competition.

Anindita, a Plus Two student of the VD College in Jeypore, is all set to try her luck to gain applauds and recognition from popular poets for her poems written in English.

She had sent her poems to the UK Tourism through social media platform for the international poetry competition. Clearing many phases, her poems were selected for the final round.

Anindita emerged as one of the top contestants on online voting. The lines are open for voting for the favourite poems and budding poets till September 25.

“It was a worldwide participation. Over 20,000 had participated in the competition in which I am in the top 50. I wish to be in top 5 in the final round to make my country proud in the UK tourism department,” said Anindita.

“My daughter had interest in writing since her childhood. She started writing poems when she was in Class-VI. After I found potential in her, I motivated her to continue writing poems. My daughter is in a leading position till now. But she needs more votes online.

I appeal to my Jeypore, Odisha and country people to vote for Anindita online to bag the trophy,” said Anindita’s father Rabindra Kumar Suara.
