Odisha-born filmmaker Jitendra Mishra is selected for the Cannes Producers Network 2014 during the ongoing 67th Cannes Film Festival. He is also representing the Hollywood film Desires of the Heart written and produced by Odia producer Solila Parida. The film got an overwhelmed response.
The Cannes Producers Network is an initiative of the Cannes Film Festival which hosts 550 producers from around the world for a series of meetings and unique events specifically designed to stimulate international coproduction and optimise networking. Each day, a different programme gives opportunities to meet the potential partners that would move international film projects forward,
Jitendra Mishra, who hails from Titilagarh, has also been associated in films like I am Kalam, Aaasma and Chausar. Mishra said, “I have been travelling to international film festivals, but this is an ocean of opportunities for independent filmmakers like us and I am blessed to attend the Cannes film market and to be a part of Producers Network. I am here to explore the opportunities of international co-productions and distributions and also to find a likeminded buyer for our film Desires of the Heart, he added.
Indian actors Kamal Hassan, Sonam Kapoor, Uday Chopra and Mallika Sherawat have also made appearances in the festival this year.
