'Odia cadre ill-treated by Andhra Maoist leaders'

Published on:

Odia cadres are being discriminated against in camps by Maoist leaders belonging to Andhra Pradesh. We are not being provided with proper uniforms and shoes and are asked to work for longer hours. Many times I complained about it to our leaders but to no avail. Also, life in forest was miserable. Hence, I decided to surrender.”

This was stated by Jhadu Huka after he laid down arms and surrendered to the Koraput police on Wednesday. Huika, who belongs to Gorkhajhola village under the Narayanpatna police limits, surrendered in the presence of DIG of Police (South-West Range) S Dev Dutta Singh.

Huika had joined the Maoist-backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh of Narayanpatna in 2008 and was providing logistic support to the Maoists group of the Srikakulam-Koraput Joint Divisional Committee.

“Huika was coordinating the movement and meetings of Maoists prior being inducted in the armed squad of the Maoists in 2011-12.

He was trained in using arms and was carrying a 303 gun,” said Koraput SP

Awinash Kumar.
