Memo to be submitted to CM for reservation
The Odisha Pachhua Barga Bikash Manch would hold a protest meeting at the Lower PMG here on Saturday and subsequently hand over a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik demanding reservation in all sectors for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Manch working president Dhuleshwar Mani informed this at a Press meet here on Friday.
“OBC candidates don’t avail a 27-per cent reservation in employment as decided in 1994. While the OBCs constitute 52 per cent of the State’s population, they are being provided only a 11.25-per cent reservation in Government job sector.
There is no reservation for OBCs in educational institutions. There is not an OBC Commission in the State. No OBC census has been done in the State,” Maia pointed out and said these would be brought to the notice of the State Government.
He said that as many as 1,500 OBC leaders and workers would come in a rally from the railway station and join the demonstration.
Among others, Manch general secretary Saroj Kumar Behera and treasurer Shreedhar Das were present.
