The Niladri Vihar Youth and Cultural Association (NYCA) organised its 22nd annual cultural festival for two days beginning from Friday last week. The event, presided over by NYCA president Dr Prakash Chandra Panigrahi, was devoted to the importance of women empowerment. Social activist Abhay Kumar Samantray and Corporators Monalisa Sahoo and Debi Prasad Mallick joined the event as guests and felicitated some women and girl students for their significant achievement and contributions to different fields. Among them, one Priyanka Priyadarshini was awarded with the Bravery Award for saving a boy in a fire accident that occurred in Angul last year. Besides, two plays Barasa Ranira Bhija Odhani and Kainchi Kakudi Nalita Pita based on women empowerment were staged during the two days by local artists, on each day. NYCA general secretary Biswajit Pattnaik gave a vote of thanks.
