Nursing students intensify fight against Principal

Published on:

As expected, the animosity between the students and the Principal of the SCB hospital’s nursing school widened further due to the hurried closure of the school for an indefinite period without giving conciliation a chance. The first signs of aggravated hostility appeared on Saturday when ten more students of the school filed complaints against Principal Kajal Rani Sinha with the local Mangalabag police accusing her of harassing them physically and mentally. The police have already booked the Principal on a complaint by a victim student.

Following five days of turmoil in the campus in which the striking students relentlessly demanded removal of Sinha from the helm of school affairs, the Government closed the school sine die on Thursday and asked the students to vacate their hostels by Friday morning.

Meanwhile, upping their ante against the Principal, the students on Saturday submitted a memorandum to district Collector NC Mishra here seeking his intervention to save them from the Principal’s onslaught. “We have requested the Collector to suspend the Principal pending an inquiry against her and take measures to reopen the school as soon as possible,” said the students after meeting the Collector. It was also learnt that the students are planning to make similar pleas before the Health Minister on Monday. The in-house committee, which was asked to probe into the allegations against the Principal, has apparently given a clean chit to the Principal, following which the Govt had no option but to declare sine die in order to restore normalcy in the school.
