A four-member doctors’ team being directed by the CDMO raided a nursing home located at Aska Road near Haradakhandi petrol pump here on Saturday.
It may be recalled that in December last, the CDMO office had received a complaint from a relative of a patient who died while undergoing treatment due to alleged negligence and lack of appropriate healthcare infrastructure in this nursing home.
Keeping the patients’ interests and public perception in mind, CDMO Dr Prasant Kumar Kar constituted a team of four doctors and ordered for a surprise raid.
According to ADMO Dr Saroj Mishra, who led the team, a patient from village Bhattakumarda was undergoing treatment in the nursing home in December.
When his health deteriorated, his relatives were asked to shift him to a Bhubaneswar hospital where he died. Hence, the raid was conducted.
The other team members were Dr BK Brahma, Dr Kedar Mishra and Dr Indira Bhanj.
The objective of the raid was to ascertain whether the nursing home has the required infrastructure and healthcare facilities including life support system to treat patients, said sources.
