While addressing as chief guest at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Nurses Training Institute (NTI) of the Ispat General Hospital run by the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and the 25th Biennial Staff Nurse Association, RSP CEO GS Prasad appreciated the immense contribution of the nurses to the health care system of the country.
Prasad in his address lauded the contributions of the NTI in the last 50 years. “Critical operations can be done by the doctors but
survival and recovery chances of the patients depend on the post operative care by the
nurses. As nursing is a very sensitive and compassionate profession, besides scientific knowledge and skill, a positive approach is required to achieve excellence,” he added.
Highlighting the enhancement of professional skill among the nurses, Prasad said greater focus is required to nurture their talents and care-giving abilities. He commended the Principal and staff of the NTI for their excellent service in providing the necessary training to the young nursing trainees.
Prasad also released a souvenir published to mark the occasion. College of Nursing (MKCG) former Principal Saroj Nalini Pradhan and West Bengal Nursing Department Deputy Director S Kundu also spoke on the occasion. Four persons from the nursing profession were felicitated for their excellent track record. The NTI was set up by the RSP at the Ispat General Hospital in 1963.
Since then it has produced more than 1,500 trained nurses, who are today working in hospitals spread throughout the world successfully.
