Despite many welfare schemes being implemented for them, bonded labourers, including minor girls and boys, belonging to 18 villages of Gumma block under Gajapati district are still going outside to earn their livelihood.
Many villagers have alleged that the administration has turned deaf ears to the persistent problem. Many young villagers have fallen victims to the lure labour contractors (Dalals) to move out as migrant labourers, they rued.
Although the district administration has also been implementing many schemes aimed at creating employment opportunities in the villages, there are no results in this regard at the field level.
