The National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jagatsinghpur unit first meeting was held here on Saturday under chairmanship of NUJ State general secretary Chita Ranjan Swain.
In the meeting discussions were held on problems in the profession at State and district-levels and expressed hope that the NUJ State unit will take up the matter before the Government for determination and consideration.
Besides, the office-bearers of NUJ Jagatsinghpur district were selected with Maheswar Tripathy as president, Birabar Dalei as working president and Nrusingha Charan Barik as general secretary.
While Sarat Kishore Kanungo was selected as assistant secretary, Tarapada Mohanty as organising secretary, Lilan Prabha Padhi as treasurer and Ajaya Kumar Jena and Kahnu Charan Nanda as advisors.
Among others, scribes Ajaya Kumar Jena, Kahnu Charan Nanda, Sarat Kishore Kanungo and NUJ Cuttack district convener Prasanna Kumar Dash and members of NUJ Jagatsinghpur unit were present.
