A district-level journalist orientation workshop on MGNREGA was held here. Inaugurating the training programme, DRDA PDP Naik said, “Due to problem of migration, six blocks of Balangir and five blocks of Nuapada districts have been given special preference under MGNREGS and instead of 100 days, the people in these blocks are entitled for 150 days of employment guaranty.”
The PD also informed about a special drive taken by the administration to provide employment to the migrant workers during this rainy season.
“The expenditure on MGNREGA this financial year is Rs15.30 lakh,” he informed. All the staff members and functionaries working in the district on MGNREGS were also present on the occasion. All aspects of the scheme were discussed in detail.
“To reduce delay in payment and eliminate the middleman, real time transfer of money directly to account of the workers will be done through electronic fund management system,” the PD informed.
