The NTPC Darlipalli power plant distributed fruit bearing saplings in the neighbouring villages on Friday.
As many as 23,000 saplings have already planted in this season and about 25,000 plants are to be planted shortly in the periphery areas of the power plant.
“To augment this drive, we have a target to distribute about 46,000 fruit bearing saplings like mango, guava and lime etc. in the periphery villages, mainly in six gram panchayats of the district,” said Umesh Chandra Nayak from the HR department of NTPC.
An awareness programme was conducted at Darlipalli recently, where all sarpanchs had attended.
Executive Director Pramod Kumar graced the occasion as chief guest and highlighted the importance of plantation, appealing them to actively cooperate in plantation work in their area. Kumar also handed over fruit bearing plants to all the participants.
