Odisha National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) spokesperson Biswa Bhusan Mohapatra on Monday demanded immediate Covid vaccination for students across the country.
Mohapatra told a Press meet at the Congress Bhawan here that it is astonishing that both Central and Odisha Governments are yet to take any steps regard for vaccination of students.
The students’ guardians are panicked as there is a possibility of a third phase of the pandemic. He said that generally, more than 100 students gather in a classroom, whether dance class or any other class. The Govt. should begin vaccination for students as soon as possible. The Congress Government in the past had given priority on administering vaccines of polio and small pox, etc., to students. Now, the BJD Government in the State and the BJP Government at the Centre are busy in mudslinging over taking credit of Covid vaccination. They are claiming giving free vaccine whereas they are burdening the public with taxes on petrol, diesel and cooking gas, Mohapatra stated. NSUI State general secretaries Kartika Kandi and Abhinash Nanda were present.
