In a shocking incident, a couple died after being struck by lightning while they were grazing goats in Janisahi village under Cuttack district’s Narasingha block on Tuesday afternoon. Three goats were also killed in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Narendra Gadanayak (60) and his wife Tapoi Gadnayak (55). Though villagers rushed the couple to Narasingpur hospital, doctors declared them brought dead.
Similarly, a middle-aged man, Abhaya Routray, of Nailo village under Biridi block in Jagatsinghpur district was killed due to lightning on the day.
He had gone to the village market to purchase cattle feed when torrential rain occurred suddenly and he took shelter in a shop, but lightning struck him and he went unconscious. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here, where he was declared brought dead.
