NRHM a failure in Odisha, says Niranjan

The National Health Mission has failed in Odisha with massive bungling of funds. However, the Centre is still relying on the State Government for execution of the scheme and no review is being done on its success, alleged PCC president Niranjan Patnaik.

Patnaik said there are 1,770 registered and 54 non registered Rogi Kalyan Samitis functioning in the State as per RTI information. They are getting certain amount of funds every year. There is a clear guideline on utilisation of those funds. Samitis must give priority to SHGs (Self Help Groups) and District Industries Centers (DICs) while procuring different items, as per the NRHM guideline. But as per the information collected through RTI, there is no data available with the Health Secretary and Mission Director in Odisha, Patnaik said.

The Director has never visited any Primary Health Centre or reviewed the funds utilisation from November 2015 to January 2017. The situation of KBK districts is still worse. No officials ever visit there to take stock of the situation, Patnaik said.

But the State Government is mum on the issue and is trying to mislead the common people of Odisha with failed schemes like the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, alleged the PCC chief.
