The much-awaited Jeypore-Nabarangpur, Jeypore-Malkangiri railway project is expected to gain momentum as the State Government would sign an MoU with the Railway Ministry soon, said Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi on Sunday.
Notably, Majhi, who was an engineer with the Indian Railways, had made the issue his poll plank during campaigning for the 2014 General Elections.
“Fortunately I have now got an opportunity to do something for people. I will deliver the maximum for the people of my constituency. Railway link, electricity, transportation, education and overall infrastructure development would be given more priority,” Majhi said.
To ensure rail connectivity in tribals-dominated districts, the State Government has announced that it would bear 50 per cent of the construction cost along with providing land free of cost for the proposed Jeypore-Nabarangpur line and 25 per cent of the cost for the Jeypore-Malkangiri line for creating railway infrastructure.
