The Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) of the 132 panchayats of Nuapada district headed by their State-level association leaders have ceased work for an indefinite period from Monday.
The officers have been sitting in dharna in front of the district Collector’s office pressing for fulfilment of a four-point charter of demands.
The demands include benefit of RACP (Revised Assured Carrier Progression) as per a judgment of the tribunal, +3 as minimum qualification for new entrants into the post of PEO, 100-per cent promotion to GPEO and PA posts and benefit of pension scheme to the all the promoted PEOs.
“The strike will continue indefinitely till our demands are fulfilled,” said two of the agitating PEOs, Prafulla Naik and Chandra Sekhar Dandsena.
