N'pada dentist selection process questioned

Candidates, who have appeared for a walk-in-interview for the post of Medical Officer (Dentist) under the RBSY (NRHM) in Nuapada district, have expressed resentment over the selection process adopted by the health administration of the district. One of the candidates, Dr Swapnasree Behera (BDS) has filed a complaint before the district Collector requesting his intervention.

The walk-in-interview for the post of dentist was conducted on March 25 consequent upon an advertisement by the Department of Health & Family Welfare. The interview was taken by a committee consisting of the CDMO, a dentist from Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), two doctors of the Nuapada DHH and Sub-Collector of Nuapada.

The interview result is yet to be declared, but the candidates, including Swapnasree, have ‘disclosed’ that the post would be allotted to one Dr Abhijeet Panda. “I am to bring to your notice that one Dr Abhijeet Panda, already working as Dentist in the DHH, was rumoured to be favoured by the staff of the CDMO office,” Swapnashree has written to the Collector. The candidates have alleged that the interview was a formality and Abhijeet was all set to be selected.

“The candidates have also questionrf the method of allotting marks. The academic performances of the candidates have not been taken into consideration in the selection process. Academic performance should be given weightage to have a balanced view of a candidate’s abilities and also to do away with or minimise the scope of favouritism in personal interview / verbal interview,” said Swapnashree.
