The BJP and Congress Nuapada district units carried out a series of activities during last two days. The Congress felicitated Adhiraj Panigrahi for being selected as one of the State Secretaries at a party meeting held at Khariar on Friday. On Thursday, several Congress youth leaders led by Kamal lochan Tandi burnt an effigy of BJP leaders protesting the suspension of 25 party leaders from the lok Sabha.
On the other hand, the BJP held a meeting and staged demonstration in front of the district Collectorate demanding declaration of drought in Nuapada. "The district has been worst affected by less rainfall and the Government should take necessary steps to declare drought," said Opposition leader Basant Panda. A team of five BJP leaders led by Panda discussed the matter with the Collector.
