Now, offenders to face action

While Home Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy has played his part by submitting a probe report on the Barabati Stadium bottle throwing incident, people, including cricket lovers, are now eagerly waiting to know what steps CM Naveen Patnaik is taking against offenders to uphold the prestige of the State’s lone heritage stadium.

Notably, Tripathy on Thursday presented a detailed enquiry report on the incident that has invited reactions from different quarters vis-à-vis safety of international cricket players at the Barabati.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary GC Pati has sent the report to the Chief Minister for action, said sources.

Naveen had asked the Home Secretary to conduct an enquiry into the incident that had occurred during a T 20 match held between India and South Africa T 20 on October 5.

Tripathy is believed to have prepared the report after questioning Twin City Police Commissioner RP Sharma, Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera and others and visiting the stadium. Sources said Tripathy has made several recommendations to avoid such unsavory incidents in future.
