After Sambalpur, killer disease jaundice has speared its tentacles to Tangi block in Khordha district. Sources said 20 cases of jaundice have been detected at Kantalbai village. While a medical team has been camping at the village 24 hours to monitor the situation as well as provide medical care, district Collector Niranjan Sahu and Chief District Medical Officer SP Mishra have visited the village to take stock of the situation.
Officials said the cases of jaundice were detected four days back and consumption of contaminated water could be the reason behind the spread of the disease. However, disinfection of water bodies is being undertaken and awareness campaigns are being undertaken to caution the locals on the cause and prevention of the disease, said Collector Sahu. Water samples and blood specimens of the affected persons have been sent for examination, informed the CDMO.
