A few days after a monkey that strayed into the domestic terminal building and was caught after a daylong operation, forest officials on Tuesday morning caught a jackal at the Biju Patnaik International Airport premises here.
Airport officials had installed several cages to catch the jackal. On Tuesday morning, they found the animal trapped in a cage placed at a strategic location near the air traffic control (ATC) tower of the airport’s old terminal and informed Forest Department officials.
However, unlike the monkey that gave a tough time to the authorities, the jackal walked straight into the trap on Monday night.
The jackal was later left into the Chandaka forest.
Forest officials said there is a possibility of some more jackals in the area. “We will run the drive. Some more animals might be present in the area,” said an airport official.
