Now, commission, PSs for men demanded

The Purusa Commission, a civil body, which demands a statutory commission and police stations for men in the State, staged a demonstration at Master Canteen here on Saturday for the fulfilment of its demands.

The organisation, which comes up with new cases every time for its protest, cited an incident that happened at the Kamarda police station in Baleswar district. Purusa Commission convener Byomkesh Tripathy said a gang of women allegedly assaulted police officer Brahmananda Nayak in the police station.

Tripathy said the police officer was targeted by the women’s group after he stopped construction work of a house as per the court order. “He just followed the court order, but the woman folk thought that the police on their own stopped the work,” he added.

The women thrashed Nayak in his office till the Bhogarai police station IIC reached there. Other police staff didn’t take any step fearing the women’s threat to bring rape allegation against them, Tripathy said. The organisation demanded setting up of a ‘State Commission for Men’ and police stations for men.  It also demanded action against the woman for their conduct at the Kamarda police station.
