Gridco Director (Commercial) PK Pradhan on Wednesday informed that the State would now experience a total of two and a half hours of power cuts, one hour in the morning and another one and a half hours in evening, daily to meet the shortfall in the power availability.
There are complaints from all over the State about frequent unscheduled power cuts for longer durations, especially in the rural areas.
Sources said power cuts would continue for an indefinite period due to shutting down of some thermal units. The State is having a shortfall of 250 MW to 300 MW.
Around 2,735 MW of power is available from various sources against the State’s demand varying between 3,000 MW and 3,050 MW. The State is now having low hydropower generation due to low reservoir levels.
