Now, Rourkela youth to take up padyatra to Pak

Odisha youth Muktikant Biswal, who hogged headlines last year for placing his demands for his native Rourkela’s development by walking 1,350 km to New Delhi, will again launch a Padayatra soon, this time to Pakistan for another cause.

“I will be on a six-month-long walking tour to Pakistan very soon with a purpose of retaining fraternity and brotherhood between two nations,” he told reporters.

Amidst high tension between India and Pakistan following the scrapping of Article 370 in the context of Jammu & Kashmir, establishing peace between the two countries is the only goal behind his mission Pakistan’ called ‘Sadbhavna Padayatara’, he said.

Muktikant would begin his journey from Rourkela to Islamabad via Jharkhand-Bihar-Uttar Pradesh-Delhi-Haryana-Punjab and Attari-Wagah border, covering a distance of about 3,200 km during six months.

Last year on April 16, he had launched his Padayatra to Delhi demanding a second road over-bridge over Brahmani river and upgradation of the IGH in Rourkela. He reached the national capital on June 27 to remind Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his promises made to Rourkela people during the 2014 elections.

However, his unique attempt did not bear fruit as he was not allowed to meet Modi and had to return to Rourkela with empty hands.
