Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone requesting him to postpone JEE (Main) and NEET in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and flood situation in the State, for which students may face difficulties in appearing for the examinations.
Earlier, Patnaik had written a letter to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank urging him to postpone the examinations. He had also requested him to direct the National Testing Agency (NTA) to open examination centres in all the 30 districts in the State.
Worth mentioning, the NTA has scheduled to conduct the JEE (Main) and NEET for admission into technical and medical courses from September 1 to 6 and on September 13, respectively. More than 50,000 students from Odisha would appear in NEET and around 40,000 in JEE (Main) this year.
