Stting at home one can find out the list and details of business enterprises in any State as the framework for the Seventh Economic Census (SEC) has been finalised.

The SEC data will be available on digital platform and all the details will be available on web portal, said sources in the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

In absence of an authentic Business Enterprises Register, it has been very difficult to locate an enterprise for advancing business activities in the country.

The MoSPI sources said that data will be updated time and again and will be utilised by all stakeholders.

Accordingly, the State Government has been advised to form the State Level Coordination Committee headed by the Chief Secretary and the District Level Coordination Committee chaired by the district Collector for coordinating the field works.

Director General Economic Survey Jyotirmoy Poddar has informed the State Government in this regard.

The State Government will play a crucial role in successfully achieving the objective of the census. Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy will remain in charge of the SEC for overall coordination, which will be taken up in Odisha.

The SEC survey will be conducted by the enumerators, those will collect data from village and ward level economic activities and verifiers will verify the data.

Coordination will be maintained between the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, the District Industries Centre, the MSMEs and the Directorate of Industries. During the survey, details of business organisation operating in the areas will be collected, which will be uploaded in the portal of SEC. The business organisations will be taken into confidence and will be sensitised in this regard.

Started in 1977, the Economic Census is done due to massive work involving in-depth survey and data compilation. So far six censuses have been conducted.

The MoSPI sources said that there are 20 crore households across the country and with the use of technology any survey can be done in least possible time.

The CSC, e Governance Services Limited has been roped in for the purpose and enumerators and verifiers will be trained in this regard. Once fieldwork is completed at district level, the district Collectors will be authorised to release provisional results and necessary facilities like login credentials. Dashboard service would be provided on IT platform to them for the purpose, said official sources.
