A hardcore criminal was injured during a police encounter before being arrested near Soroda in Ganjam district on late Friday night.
Brundaban Nayak alias Bablu, who sustained injury in his knee during the exchange of fire, has been admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here, said the police. Bablu and his aides had hurled bombs creating panic at lathipada near Soroda. later they moved on to Sindhipali to attack two persons.
On being informed, the Soroda and Gangapur police in a joint operation had raided the area. The criminal opened fire at the police before the latter took any action. The police retaliated in which Bablu was injured. Police seized a 9MM pistol, bullets and bombs from the area. Bablu also faces other charges, including two murders.
