The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued notification for bye-election to the lone vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Odisha on May 25.
While the last date of filing of nominations is May 15, the nomination papers would be scrutinised on May 16. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures has been fixed for May 18.
The polling would be held on May 25 from 9 am to 4 pm, and counting of votes would take place on the same day at 5 pm.
Notably, the Parliament’s Upper House seat from the State has fallen vacant following resignation of Bishnu Charan Das on March 21 this year. His term of office would have ended on July 1, 2022.
