Commenting on Vote-On-Account for 2014-15 fiscal presented in the Parliament on Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that it had nothing for the common man and especially, the people of Odisha. “It does not inspire any confidence,” he quipped.
Alleging that the UPA Government led by Congress created problem of price rise in the country, Patnaik regretted that it once again failed to address serious issues of food security in the Budget. He flayed the UPA Government for lack of commitment to implement the Food Security Act and said the provision for food subsidy was inadequate.
Referring to the fiscal management front, Patnaik said that there was no indication for stepping up capital expenditure to accelerate the sagging growth rate of the economy.
“There is no attempt to enhance revenue and increase plan expenditure,” he said, adding the plan outlay for 2014 -15 is at the level of 2013-14. He also expressed his grave doubts on the flow of funds for State plan including the restructured centrally sponsored schemes.
