The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has warned the School and Mass Education Secretary to invoke the provisions of Section 13 of the protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 over to non availability of toilet facilities at Sevashram managed by SC and ST Department.
Section 13 of the protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 may drag the Secretary for personal appearance before the commission.
The direction came after the S&ME Secretary failed to submit report within the stipulated time. Angul-based Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain had moved the commission alleging that as many as 57 students studying and residing at the Tentoloi Sevasram School are deprived of drinking water and toilet forcing them to go outside.
